Varicose veins, which carry the dirty blood in the body, are the basis of the structural causes of varicose veins, insufficiency of the valves that help the blood in the vein to return to the heart by overcoming the difficulty of gravity, weakness of the vein walls and congenital vascular diseases.

Sclerotherapy is one of the most commonly used and well-known methods in the treatment of varicose veins. It is also known as “needle therapy” and “foam therapy” with its popular name in recent years. Sclerotherapy is simply the injection of certain drugs into the varicose veins that destroy them. Destroyed varicose veins, just like healing a wound, are gradually reduced by the body and disappear completely over time.

If varicose veins are very close to the skin and visible to the naked eye, varicose veins can be entered directly with special needles and sclerotherapy is applied. If the varicose veins are deeper and cannot be seen with the naked eye, then needles are placed in the varices by seeing with ultrasound and the drug is injected (ultrasound guided sclerotherapy). Since capillary varicose veins are very thin, sclerotherapy should be performed with very thin needles under special lighted magnifying glasses.
